- Hair washing: From the day your surgeon specifies, without straining the ear.
- Sport: Light walking can resume early. Contact sports, swimming and activities that strain the head are postponed for a defined period — in children, school and PE arrangements are discussed in advance.
- Return to school: Usually planned once the dressing period is complete.

Can the Ears Become Prominent Again?
This is what families ask most, and the honest answer is: durability depends largely on the technique used.
Cartilage has an inherent tendency to return to its previous shape. Where methods only fold it with sutures and the cartilage’s own tension is not released, partial recurrence can be seen over time. Approaches that also reduce that tension, supporting durability, are therefore preferred today.
Other factors affecting recurrence:
- Completing the dressing and headband period fully
- Avoiding knocks and pressure to the ear in the first weeks
- Individual characteristics of the cartilage
