Breast Augmentation: A Fuller and Aesthetic Silhouette

Breast augmentation surgery is a surgical procedure performed to increase the size of the breasts, increase their fullness and give them an aesthetic appearance. It is usually performed using breast implants or one’s own fat tissue. Breast augmentation surgery is a popular aesthetic procedure preferred for aesthetic concerns or to compensate for volume loss after childbirth, breastfeeding.

What is Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation is an aesthetic procedure performed to increase the volume of the breasts and provide a symmetrical appearance. This procedure is performed using silicone implants or one’s own body fat. It allows women to have a fuller and more feminine silhouette.

Who Can Have Breast Augmentation Surgery?

Breast augmentation surgery may be preferred for the following reasons:

How is Breast Augmentation Surgery Performed?

The surgery is usually performed under general anesthesia and takes 1-2 hours. The stages of the procedure are:

Risks and Side Effects

As with any surgical procedure, there may be some risks involved in breast augmentation surgery:

These risks can be minimized when working with an experienced surgeon.

Implant or Fat Transfer?

There are two routes to increasing breast volume, and the choice becomes clear once the target increase is defined.

ImplantFat transfer
Volume increaseMarked and predictableLimited, gradual
Additional benefitNoneDonor area is slimmed
PredictabilityHighPart of the fat is reabsorbed
PrerequisiteAdequate tissue coverAvailable fat reserve

If a marked increase is the goal, an implant is the only realistic option — an increase of two cup sizes or more cannot be achieved with fat transfer in a single session. For someone wanting a measured fullness with a more natural transition, who would also like fat removed from another area, fat transfer is a good option.

Choosing an Implant: Size, Shape and Position

This is not like picking a size from a catalogue. What determines the dimension is not preference but your own measurements: chest width, breast base width, existing tissue thickness and skin elasticity.

  • Base width: An implant wider than the breast base creates a visible edge and does not look natural. This sets the limit.
  • Tissue cover: In people with thin tissue, placing the implant beneath the muscle gives a softer transition.
  • Shape: A round profile adds fullness in the upper pole; a teardrop shape creates a more gradual curve. Which is right varies by person.
  • If there is sagging: An implant alone will not correct it. Whether a lift is also needed is assessed — see breast lift.

Measurements are taken at examination and a suitable range determined. Very large choices may satisfy in the short term but load the tissue over the long term; measured planning is what makes the result durable.

Breastfeeding, Breast Health and Follow-Up

Breastfeeding: With commonly used placements and incision choices, the milk ducts and the nipple connection are preserved and the possibility of breastfeeding continues. No guarantee can be given, but the procedure on its own is not regarded as a barrier. If you are planning pregnancy in the near future, timing is assessed together; pregnancy and breastfeeding change breast tissue again.

Breast health screening: An age-appropriate assessment is carried out before surgery. Afterwards routine follow-up continues unchanged; you simply need to mention that you have implants — appropriate imaging techniques are then used.

Long-term monitoring: Implants are not devices that remain unchanged for life. Regular checks and reassessment over the years are part of the process. If you notice a change in shape, feel or comfort, arrange a review.

Travelling From Abroad for Surgery

If you are considering coming to Turkey for this operation, the questions that matter are not about price but about continuity of care. Surgery is a process, not a single day, and the part that most often goes wrong for international patients is what happens after they fly home.

What to establish before you book:

  • Who performs the operation, and are they a board-certified plastic surgeon? Ask for the surgeon’s name and credentials in writing — not the name of an agency or a package.
  • How long you must stay. Do not plan to fly out the day after surgery. Your surgeon should give you a minimum stay based on the operation, not on your flight schedule.
  • Flying and clot risk. Long flights soon after surgery raise the risk of blood clots. The waiting period before flying is a medical decision.
  • What happens if there is a complication after you return. Ask specifically: who do you contact, how quickly, and what is covered.
  • Who provides your follow-up at home. Arrange this in advance rather than after a problem appears.
  • Your medical records. You should leave with an operative note and implant details you can hand to any doctor.

A consultation — including a remote one — should end with a clear plan and honest limits, not a quoted price. If any part of the above cannot be answered plainly, that is information in itself.

Breast Augmentation Prices

The price of breast augmentation surgery varies depending on the type of implant used, the surgeon’s experience and hospital conditions. It is recommended to consult a specialist for exact price information.
